Our research team developed low-cost realtime water level sensors using commodity IoT devices. We recently installed our sensors along the rivers in the Falling Water River watershed. The video below documents the installation. This project is funded by USGS 104B through the UT Water Resources Research Center.
This summer, we partnered with Dr. Guido Cervone and his graduate student Courtney Jackson, of Penn State University, to use UAVs to measure streamflow along few rivers in Tennessee. We visited Obion River in Western Tennessee and conducted several tests. Afterwards, we conducted similar tests on Cumberland River and Caney Fork River in Middle Tennessee. The following compiles all our tests and measurements.
